Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving will not play play in the team’s return preseason matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday in Shenzhen, China, according to an announcement made by the team Friday.
Irving suffered a facial contusion Thursday in the preseason game against the Lakers in Shanghai, China when he collided with Rajon Rondo’s shoulder a minute into the game. This isn’t the first time Irving’s face has been in the line of fire this preseason; he was already wearing a mask after suffering a facial fracture in a pickup game prior to the start of training camp.
Irving was not the only net to get knicked up. Guard Caris LeVert got poked in the eye in the same game and his status is questionable.
